Efurd Orchard is located just 3 miles south of Pittsburg on Highway 271. What started out as a simple family business in a little dirt-floor shed has quickly grown to a national operation with customers all over the country. Owners, Greg and Amy Efurd, are dedicated to quality and provide us with the freshest fruits and vegetables you have ever tasted!
Ham Orchards was established in 1979 by Dale and Judy Ham. The orchard lies just east of Terrell. Dale planted his first orchard of 50 trees in 1979 on the original 23 acres. In 1980 he planted 450 trees and continued adding fruit trees each year after. The first peaches were sold at the roadside of Texas Highway 80 that borders the Ham Orchard’s property.
Fisher Family Farm & Ranch is a family owned farm in East Texas. Each year they grow a variety of crops and are always looking for a new variety to add to the list so their customers can enjoy a diverse offering of fruits and vegetables on a regular basis. Their core crops are almost always tomatoes, cantaloupes, watermelons, okra, green beans, and Irish potatoes. However, as the seasons allow, they will also grow, broccoli, cauliflower, eggplants, greens, and fruits such as blackberries, strawberries, figs, pears, and plums.
Sides Pea Farm began in 1957 when Winford and Virginia Sides bought 70 acres just south of Canton and began farming. When Winford began farming he tried his hand in many varieties of vegetables: squash, tomatoes, potatoes, okra, watermelons, cantaloupes, peas, and beans. Winford soon realized he was much better at raising peas and beans than anything else.
Mill Creek Farms is owned and operated by Roger Heddin, Sr. and his three sons. Mill Creek Farms is located close to Canton, Texas which is about 60 miles east of Dallas. They grow 10 different varieties of tomatoes, yellow squash, zucchini squash, slicing cucumbers, sweet potatoes, sweet onions, and greens.
Larken Farms began began in 2000 as a hobby for Ken & Laura Jo Halverson to try out their “green thumb” at growing peaches. What started as a hobby has turned into a full-time orchard! Larken Farms has over 7,000 trees with 30 varieties of Texas and California Peaches, Santa Rosa Plums, Hosui Asian Pears and several hundred blackberry bushes. While not “certified” as organic growers, they practice organic methods for growing all of their fruits and vegetables.
The Reeves Family Farm supplies us with some amazing Okra. They specifically have soft and tender Baby Okra that is perfect for frying!
Lightsey Farm is a grower of fresh fruit & vegetables with extensive produce knowledge and experience. Peaches, Plums, Persimmons, Pears, Melons, and vegetables are grown directly from their farm. Their Family has been in the business for more than 65 years!
W.V. Rainey Greenhouses began as a hobby in the early 1950's. William and Hattie began selling tomato plants to local seed and feed stores in Denton. It became a business in 1958 with William leaving his job at Texas Woman's University. The market expanded into Dallas Ft. Worth and the surrounding areas with the product line increasing. Quality has always been important to the Rainey family as well as variety.
Country Greenhouses, Inc. was established in July of 1984, and has been supplying Central Texas with quality plants at great prices for 30 years. Jack Johnson has been in the greenhouse business for over 40 years, starting with his brother at Johnson Greenhouses, in Corpus Christi, TX in 1976. From there, he went on to start his own greenhouse in Martindale, TX. Jack decided to move the business to Lexington, TX for two reasons, to be in a more central location, and where the water was good.
